It has been an exciting couple of months in UF’s History Department.  Dr. Ibram X. Kendi’s most recent book, Stamped from the Beginning: The Definitive History of Racist Ideas in America has been recognized by several internationally renowned book prize committees.  First, Stamped from the Beginning won the National Book Prize in the nonfiction category.  Most recently, Dr. Kendi’s book has also been named a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award in the nonfiction category.  Finally, Dr. Kendi’s op-ed in the New York Times appeared recently.  In addition to this well-deserved international recognition, Dr. Kendi has been active with local audiences here in the Gainesville area, and in February he will speak at the Alachua County Public Library’s Author Series.
