Dr. Evan Nooe, who earned his BA in History from UF in 2006, received the 2025 Francis B. Simkins Award from The Southern Historical Association for his book Aggression & Sufferings: Settler Violence, Native Resistance, and the Coalescence of the Old South at the organization’s annual meeting in St. Pete Beach, Florida. The award recognizes the best first book by an author on southern history over the prior two years. This is now the third book award for Evan’s project.
Evan is currently Assistant Professor of History at the University of South Carolina Lancaster.
