Miguel Ángel Torres Yunda, originally from Bogotá, Colombia, is a first-year Ph.D. student working with Dr. Vrana. His academic and research interests focus on the Amazonian history of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, particularly the history of the rubber boom, Antillean migration to the Amazon, and Indigenous social and political movements. Miguel graduated in 2019 from Virginia Commonwealth University with a B.A. in History and B.S. in Psychology. He completed his Master’s from Georgetown University, focusing on Global, international, and Comparative history, in 2022.
