College and University Awards

PLEASE NOTE: The following list is suggestive not exhaustive. This list is presented as a convenient means for identifying and accessing awards available to undergraduates at the University of Florida. Because deadline dates change annually, students are advised in all instances to make direct contact with the appropriate agency or unit well in advance to obtain application materials and information regarding current deadlines.

CLAS Scholarships

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences offers twenty named scholarships worth $1,500 each, some with multiple awards possible and some limited by criteria (e.g., social science majors). Read more here.

CLAS also accepts applications for the O. Ruth McQuown Scholarship, which provides awards of $500 to $3,000 each year to students who break down barriers, create a welcoming environment, and include individuals who are racial minories or women (or otherwise reflect broad diversity) in academic co-curricular, and/or research endeavors. CLAS provides a Cynthia W. Colangelo Award for Breast Cancer Awareness with an award amount of $250 to $1000 for students who are actively involved in the fight against breast cancer through community service and activities. Read more here.

University Research Opportunities and Scholarships

UNIVERSITY SCHOLARS PROGRAM
The university sponsors student research through its University Scholars Program. Successful students will receive a $1,750 stipend and complete a full research project, working closely with a faculty member. The application package includes a research proposal, the USP application form, and a reference letter from the prospective faculty mentor. The application should be sent to the Department of History Undergraduate Coordinator at the beginning of February for consideration for the following year. INTERNATIONAL CENTER SCHOLARSHIPS FOR STUDY ABROAD
The International Center offers several scholarships for study abroad, either for a semester, a full year, or for summer programs. Applications are approximately three months before the start of the target semester (e.g., October for consideration for the spring semester). UFIC has one application for all of its scholarships. UNIVERSITY WOMEN’S CLUB ACHIEVEMENT AWARD SCHOLARSHIPS
The University Women’s Club presents Achievement Award Scholarships each spring to undergraduates. In 2022 the award amount was $5000 to five exceptional women or men in undergraduate programs. Selections are made by the Admissions Committee of the Division of Student Life. For more information and for the application, follow this link.

PHI KAPPA PHI HONOR SOCIETY AWARDS
The Honors Society of Phi Kappa Phi awards dozens of fellowships from $8,500 to $35,000 for undergraduates who are planning to enter graduate school the following year. Applicants must be members of Phi Kappa Phi. Applications consist of the application form, work sample, transcripts, and two letters of recommendation to the local chapter’s president.
