Jenny Devine

Jenny L. Devine is a Senior Appellate Attorney with the Office of the Federal Defender, Middle District of Florida. Since 2003, Ms. Devine has dedicated her legal career to ensuring marginalized people receive equal justice under the law. She specializes in federal criminal appeals, but her experience spans federal and state criminal defense litigation from arrest through post-conviction relief. Ms. Devine handles a wide variety of cases, including complex fraud, internet offenses, international drug smuggling conspiracies, and violent crimes. She has trained lawyers on matters related to substantial assistance, revocations of supervised release, and achieving best outcomes for defendants facing cases in dueling jurisdictions. Ms. Devine has been published in the NACDL Champion, the ABA Criminal Justice Magazine, and a psychiatric medical text focused on advocacy for individuals with mental health issues. She is a triple Gator with a B.A. in History (Senior Thesis: “The Narrative of Lynchings: A Study of Florida Mob Violence and the Press, 1900-1940”) and a combination J.D. and M.A. in History (Master’s Thesis: “‘An Execution By Slow Torture’: The Death of Martin Tabert and Florida’s Convict-Lease System”). You can probably find her hiking in a National Park or rooting against the Seminoles.
